The year we refuse to settle: stewardship that honors God
Stewardship is not only about money. It is about what we do with everything God has entrusted to us, including our time, influence, abilities, opportunities, and resources.
Jesus addressed stewardship directly in Matthew 6. He warned His followers not to build their lives around treasures that can decay, disappear, or be taken away. Earthly security always promises more than it can deliver.
Then Jesus drew a clear line:
“You cannot serve God and money.” Matthew 6:24 ESV
Jesus did not say money itself was evil. He warned that money can become a master. What we trust for security will eventually begin directing our decisions. Fear tells us to hold tighter, protect ourselves, and measure success by what we possess. Faith recognizes that everything belongs to God and must be surrendered to His purpose.
Every believer is already serving something. The question is whether our lives reveal trust in God or bondage to comfort, control, and misplaced security.
Biblical stewardship means asking more than, “How much should I give?” It asks, “Lord, what do You want to accomplish through what You have placed in my hands?” That question reaches into our schedules, homes, careers, churches, and plans for the future.
