Start Following Jesus

You do not have to know church language to ask an honest question about Jesus. You can begin here. The gospel is the good news of what Jesus Christ has done to bring sinners back to God, and His invitation calls for a real response.
Watch: What It Means to Be Born Again
Who is Jesus?
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. He came into our world, lived without sin, died for our sins, and rose bodily from the dead. He is alive today. Christianity rests on who He is and what He has done. Read John 1:1–14 and 1 Corinthians 15:3–8.
Why do we need salvation?
God is holy and good. Sin is our rebellion against Him in our thoughts, desires, words, and actions. Every one of us has sinned. We cannot erase that guilt by becoming more religious or doing enough good things. Sin brings separation from God and judgment, but God has acted in love to rescue us through Jesus. Read Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, and Romans 5:8.
Salvation means being rescued from sin and reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. It is a gift of grace, received through faith. Grace is God's undeserved favor. Faith means trusting Jesus Himself, including His death and resurrection, rather than relying on your own goodness to make you right with God. Read Ephesians 2:8–10.
Repent and believe
Jesus calls us to repent and believe the gospel. Repentance means turning from sin toward God. It includes admitting the truth about your sin and surrendering your right to run your life apart from Him. Faith entrusts your life to Jesus as Savior and Lord. This is the beginning of following Him. Read Mark 1:15 and Romans 10:9–13.
You can speak honestly to God right now. Confess your sin. Ask for His forgiveness. Tell Him you are trusting Jesus and want to follow Him. You do not need polished words. A prayer is an expression of faith, not a formula that saves you. Jesus is the Savior.
Take your next steps
Begin reading the Gospel of John. Read a small section each day and ask: What does this show me about Jesus? What is He calling me to believe or obey? Bring your questions to God in prayer and to a mature Christian who will help you understand Scripture.
Connect with a local church that teaches the Bible faithfully and keeps Jesus Christ central. Tell a pastor that you are beginning to follow Jesus. Ask about baptism and discipleship. Baptism publicly identifies you with Christ; discipleship is learning to follow and obey Him in everyday life. Read Matthew 28:18–20 and Acts 2:41–42.
Depend on the Holy Spirit as you grow. He empowers believers to live for Christ and bear witness to Him. Following Jesus involves learning, correction, repentance, and obedience. You do not have to walk alone. Read Acts 1:8 and Galatians 5:16–25.
Keep growing: four places to begin
Work through these at your own pace. Open your Bible, read the passage, and bring your questions to someone who will help you follow Jesus.
1. Who Jesus is. Read He is risen alongside Matthew 28. What does the resurrection tell you about Jesus and His authority over your life?
2. Repentance and faith. Read What It Means to Be Born Again alongside John 3:1–21. Be honest with God about your sin and your need for the new life only He can give.
3. Learn to pray and read Scripture. Read Matthew 6:5–13 and a short section of John. Speak honestly to your Father. Thank Him, confess your sin, bring your needs, and ask for help obeying what you read. Write down one question to discuss with a mature believer.
4. Follow Jesus in daily life. Read The point of no return alongside Matthew 16:24–26. Where are you resisting His direction? Take one concrete step of obedience and ask a trusted believer to walk with you.
Walking through a difficult season? Read Miracles of mercy and Mark 2:1–12. Bring your need to Jesus, and let someone stand beside you in prayer.
