It is easy to focus on what we lack. We notice what has not happened, what we cannot afford, and what we wish God would change. Meanwhile, we can overlook the blessings He has already placed directly in front of us.

Gratitude forces us to stop and remember. Every good thing in our lives has come through the hand of God. The food on our table, the people around us, the strength to face another day, and the grace that carries us through difficult seasons are not things we should treat as ordinary.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” James 1:17, ESV

Biblical gratitude does not mean pretending life is perfect. It means recognizing that God remains faithful even when life is difficult. We may not have everything we want, but we have not been abandoned. His provision may not always arrive in the form we expected, but He continues to provide what we need.

A grateful heart changes how we see our circumstances. Instead of allowing disappointment to control our thoughts, we begin looking for evidence of God’s faithfulness. Instead of constantly comparing our lives to what someone else has, we learn to recognize what God has entrusted to us.

The greatest blessing we have received is not material. It is salvation through Jesus Christ. Everything else can change, disappear, or be taken away, but the hope we have in Christ remains secure.

The full message above explores Mark 6:21 and challenges us to recognize God’s provision, count the blessings we often overlook, and develop a heart of gratitude in every season.
