Never LOSE Faith: Rahab’s Faith in God’s Salvation
Rahab did not have the background anyone would expect from a woman remembered for extraordinary faith. She was a prostitute living in Jericho, a city already marked for judgment. Yet when Israel’s spies arrived, Rahab recognized something many others refused to see: the God of Israel was the true God.
“By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.” Hebrews 11:31, ESV
Rahab had heard what God had done. She knew how He delivered Israel from Egypt and defeated the kings who stood against them. While the people of Jericho trembled in fear, Rahab responded with faith. She protected the spies, confessed her belief in the Lord, and trusted the promise that her household would be spared.
Her faith was not passive. It moved her to act when doing so could have cost her everything. Rahab tied the scarlet cord in her window and waited while the walls around her prepared to fall. She had no strength to save herself. Her only hope was the promise she had received.
God did more than rescue Rahab from Jericho. He gave her a new future among His people. She became part of the family line through which Jesus Christ would come. Her past did not have the final word. God’s grace did.
Rahab’s story reminds us that nobody is beyond the reach of salvation. Your history does not disqualify you from being redeemed or used by God. Faith takes God at His word, obeys when the outcome cannot yet be seen, and refuses to let fear speak louder than His promise.
