Do You Really Know Who Jesus Is?
Many people know facts about Jesus without truly knowing who He is. They have heard His name, listened to sermons, and become familiar with His teachings. But familiarity is not the same as surrender. In the parable of the sower, Jesus reveals how differently people can respond when the same Word reaches their lives.
“He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 4:9, ESV
Some seed fell along the path and was immediately taken away. Some reached shallow soil, where it grew quickly but could not survive hardship. Other seed was choked by the cares of the world, the deceitfulness of riches, and competing desires.
Only the seed planted in good soil endured and produced fruit.
The problem was not with the seed. God’s Word remained true in every place it was sown. The difference was the condition of the soil receiving it. Jesus was confronting His listeners with a serious question: Are you merely hearing the Word, or are you allowing it to take root and transform you?
Knowing Jesus means more than experiencing temporary excitement. It requires a heart that receives His Word, holds firmly to it, and allows it to produce lasting fruit. Pressure will test that commitment. Distractions will compete for our attention. The world will continually offer us reasons to place something else above Christ.
Jesus is not simply another religious teacher. He is the Lord who opens doors, directs our steps, and accomplishes what we could never accomplish ourselves. He calls us beyond shallow belief into a life completely shaped by His truth.
