Jesus Has Expectations for You
Jesus did not save us so we could remain silent, comfortable, and disconnected from His mission. After His resurrection, He appeared to His disciples and gave them a clear command. The gospel they had received was now the gospel they were expected to carry into the world.
“Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15, ESV
The disciples had struggled with unbelief. Even after witnesses told them Jesus was alive, they refused to believe. Jesus confronted their hardened hearts, but He did not cast them aside. He corrected them, restored them, and sent them forward with purpose.
That should challenge every believer. Following Jesus is more than attending church, agreeing with Christian teaching, or privately believing the right things. Christ expects His people to obey Him. We are called to proclaim the gospel, make disciples, pray with faith, and carry His truth into a broken world.
This mission is not reserved for pastors, missionaries, or people with public ministries. Jesus gave it to those who believe in His name. Every Christian has a responsibility to represent Christ wherever God has placed them.
The first disciples did not remain in the room discussing what Jesus had said. They went out and preached everywhere. The Lord worked through them and confirmed His message. Their faith became visible through obedience.
Grace does not remove responsibility. It gives us a new life and a new mission. We cannot earn salvation through our work, but genuine faith will move us to follow what Jesus commanded.
