Who Do You Say That Jesus Is?
People have never agreed about Jesus. Some call Him a prophet, a moral teacher, or an inspiring religious leader. Others admire His words while rejecting His authority. But Jesus did not allow His disciples to hide behind the opinions of the crowd. He made the question personal.
“He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’” Matthew 16:15, ESV
Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” He recognized that Jesus was not merely another messenger sent by God. He was the promised Messiah, the Son of God, and the only One with authority to save.
That truth demands a response from every person. It is not enough to know what your family believes, repeat what a pastor has said, or identify with Christianity. You must decide who Jesus is and what His identity means for your life.
If Jesus is truly the Christ, then He cannot be reduced to an addition to the life we have already chosen. He is Lord. His Word carries authority. His call requires repentance, faith, and complete surrender.
The answer we give cannot remain confined to our words. If we confess Jesus as Lord while continually rejecting His commands, our lives expose the contradiction. Genuine faith changes our direction, reshapes our priorities, and places Christ above everything else.
The question Jesus asked in Caesarea Philippi still reaches every heart today: “Who do you say that I am?” Eternity stands behind that question. Neutrality is not an option, and someone else cannot answer it for you.
