When heaven broke the silence
There are seasons when God seems silent. Prayers appear unanswered, circumstances remain unchanged, and it can feel as though heaven has forgotten where we are.
The birth of Jesus came during a season like that.
God’s people had waited for generations for the promised Messiah. Empires had risen and fallen, foreign rulers controlled the land, and Rome appeared to determine the future. Caesar Augustus issued a decree that forced families across the empire to travel for registration.
From Rome’s perspective, it was government policy. From heaven’s perspective, God was moving Joseph and Mary toward Bethlehem, exactly where the Messiah had been promised to come.
Jesus was not born in a palace surrounded by earthly power. He entered the world in humility and was laid in a manger. Then heaven broke the silence.
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11 ESV
The announcement did not come first to Caesar, religious leaders, or the wealthy. It came to shepherds watching their flocks at night. God revealed the arrival of the King to ordinary people who were willing to receive the news and respond.
When God seems silent, He is not absent. He may be working through circumstances we do not understand, moving people into position, and fulfilling promises that appear delayed.
