A Church that multiplies
The Church was never called to preserve itself. Jesus gave us a mission that must move beyond the people already sitting in the room.
Acts 6 shows a growing Church facing internal pressure. Widows were being overlooked, complaints were rising, and the apostles could no longer carry every responsibility themselves. If the problem remained unresolved, division could have weakened the mission.
The apostles responded by equipping other believers to serve. They selected seven qualified men who were respected, full of the Holy Spirit, and filled with wisdom. Ministry expanded, practical needs were addressed, and the apostles remained focused on prayer and the ministry of the Word.
The result was multiplication:
“And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem.” Acts 6:7 ESV
A multiplying Church does more than attract a crowd. It makes disciples, develops servants, releases leaders, and gives every believer a place in the mission. Growth becomes healthy when responsibility is shared and people are equipped to serve according to their calling.
Comfort tells us to maintain what we already have. Mission tells us to reach the people who are still missing.
The harvest is not waiting for a handful of professional ministers. It requires ordinary believers who are willing to pray, serve, invite, teach, give, and speak about Jesus in everyday life. Every person has a role, and every act of obedience can create room for the gospel to move further.
