Never Lose Faith: Moses and His Parents’ Faith to Protect God’s Purpose
Before Moses ever stood before Pharaoh, his parents had to make a dangerous decision. Pharaoh had commanded that every Hebrew son be killed, but they refused to surrender their child to the fear controlling everyone around them. They recognized that God had placed something upon his life, and faith gave them the courage to protect it.
“By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.” Hebrews 11:23, ESV
Their faith did not remove the danger. It gave them courage to obey God in the middle of it. They could not see Moses confronting Pharaoh, leading Israel through the Red Sea, or carrying God’s people toward the Promised Land. They simply trusted God with the purpose they could not yet fully understand.
That same faith later became visible in Moses. He rejected the temporary pleasures and status Egypt offered because he chose to identify with the people of God. He left behind what was comfortable, endured opposition, and moved forward because he was looking toward something greater.
Faith protects what God has entrusted to us. It refuses to let fear, pressure, or cultural compromise destroy His purpose. Sometimes that means standing when obedience is costly. Sometimes it means releasing what we have protected into God’s hands and trusting Him with the outcome.
Moses’ parents could hide him for only so long. Eventually, they had to place him in the basket and release him onto the water. They did what faith required, then trusted God to do what only He could do.
