Crossing the Red Sea: A Lesson in Faith and Deliverance
Israel appeared trapped. The Red Sea stood before them, Pharaoh’s army closed in behind them, and there was no visible way of escape. After witnessing God’s power in Egypt, fear still convinced the Israelites that they were about to die in the wilderness.
“The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:14, ESV
God had not brought His people out of slavery just to abandon them beside the sea. What looked like a dead end was the place where He would reveal His power. Moses lifted his staff, the waters divided, and Israel walked through on dry ground.
But they still had to move.
God opened the way, but His people had to step into it. Faith does not always mean standing still and waiting for every obstacle to disappear. Sometimes faith means moving forward because God has spoken, even when the path ahead looks impossible.
The same waters that became a road of deliverance for Israel became judgment upon the army pursuing them. God did more than help His people escape. He broke the power of the enemy that had kept them enslaved.
The Red Sea reminds us that God is not limited by what we can see. When there appears to be no way forward, He is still able to make one. Our fear does not change His faithfulness, and impossible circumstances do not weaken His authority.
We may not know how God will act, but we can trust who He is. The God who delivered Israel remains faithful to His people. When He says move forward, faith takes the next step and trusts Him with the waters.
