The door is open... but not for long
Jesus was once asked whether only a few people would be saved.
He did not answer by giving a number. Instead, He turned the question back upon everyone listening and warned them to examine their own response to God.
“Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.” Luke 13:24, ESV
The door is narrow because salvation is found only through Jesus Christ. Religious activity, family history, good intentions, and spiritual curiosity cannot save us. We must repent, believe the gospel, and personally surrender to Christ.
Jesus also warned that the door will not remain open forever. A time will come when the Master rises and shuts it. Some will stand outside claiming they ate with Him and heard His teaching, but familiarity with Jesus is not the same as belonging to Him.
That warning should shake casual Christianity. It is possible to hear sermons, attend church, know Christian language, and still never truly submit to Christ. Being near the things of God cannot replace knowing Him.
The world is searching for spiritual answers, but not every voice leads to truth. False messiahs, deceptive teaching, and comfortable religion offer wide roads without repentance. Jesus offers something different. His way is narrow, but it leads to life.
The gospel invitation is still open today. Grace is still being offered. Sinners can still repent, believe, and enter the Kingdom through Christ. But Scripture never tells us to assume that tomorrow is guaranteed.
Now is the time to respond. Now is the time to lead others toward Jesus. Do not wait until the door has closed.
