Ekklesia unleashed: the power that launched the Church
The Church described in Acts was not built around comfort, convenience, or consumerism. It was born through the power of the Holy Spirit and carried forward by ordinary believers who became bold witnesses for Jesus Christ.
Before ascending into heaven, Jesus gave His disciples both a mission and a promise:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 ESV
Jesus did not tell His followers to remain hidden behind closed doors. He promised them the power they needed to carry the gospel beyond Jerusalem and into the world. The Holy Spirit would give them courage, direction, and the ability to testify about the risen Christ.
That same mission still belongs to the Church today.
We were not saved simply to attend services, occupy a seat, or observe ministry from a distance. Every believer has been called to represent Jesus and participate in His Kingdom work. We may not all preach from a pulpit, but we can speak the truth, serve others, share our testimony, and demonstrate the love of Christ wherever God has placed us.
The power of the Holy Spirit was never intended to make believers comfortable. It was given to make us effective witnesses.
